Volkswagen ID.LIFE

At the 2021 IAA, Volkswagen presented an electric compact crossover concept car - ID.LIFE - a production version of which could be launched in 2025 and cost just EUR20,000 to buy. The ID. LIFE is based on a smaller variant of Volkswagen’s modular electric drive matrix (MEB) that has been developed specifically for the small car segment. This is the first time a vehicle based on the MEB has front-wheel drive. By 2030, Volkswagen aims to increase the share of all-electric models in total vehicle sales in Europe to at least 70 per cent and in North America and China to at least 50 per cent.

Dacia Jogger

At the 2021 IAA, Dacia showed the Jogger for the first time. A five- or seven-seat wagon, the new model will also be available as a Renault. It is the replacement for the Logan MCV. The Jogger will arrive in dealerships in February. It is mainly for Europe, along with Israel and Turkey. Dacia says that with a name that evokes sport, the great outdoors, and positive energy, the Dacia Jogger helps carry forward the brand’s new identity. 2023 will see the addition of a hybrid engine to the range.

Opel/Vauxhall Astra-E

The Stellantis-owned Opel and Vauxhall brands will add a fully electric variant to the upcoming Astra model range in 2023. The move is another step in the electrification strategy for the brands. The eighth generation Astra's 'Astra-E' variant will join the Vauxhall all-electric line-up alongside Corsa-e, Mokka-e, Combo-e Life and Vivaro-e Life, as well as an already fully-electric light commercial vehicle line-up of Combo-e, Vivaro-e and Movano-e. Vauxhall’s line-up will be electrified across the line-up by 2024 and solely fully-electric from 2028 – two years ahead of the UK Government’s deadline for the end of sale for solely fossil fuel burning cars. Plug-in hybrid and petrol and diesel versions of the new Astra go on sale next month and Vauxhall says the first customers will take delivery of their cars 'early next year'.
